The nestor of Swedish children’s literature research has left us
Abstract
Klingberg was awarded his PhD in 1964 with the first doctoral thesis in Sweden on children’s literature, Swedish Literature for Children and Young People 1591–1839. The influence of Klingberg’s thesis and extensive continued research is inestimable. He was the first to systematize and classify Swedish publications in children’s literature. Another scholar of Swedish children’s literature, Stefan Mählqvist, has aptly described Klingberg as ”the Carolus Linnaeus of research in Swedish children’s literature.”Authors contributing to Barnboken: Journal of Children's Literature Research agree to publish their articles under the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 License, allowing third parties to share their work (copy, distribute, transmit) and to adapt it, under the condition that the authors are given credit and that in the event of reuse or distribution, the terms of this license are made clear.
